Hi, I am Roberta
MA LPC NCC
I am dedicated to supporting individuals who seek greater safety, authenticity, and connection in their lives, relationships, and overall well-being. My approach is rooted in mindfulness, curiosity, and a deep understanding of the mind-body connection. I offer a non-judgmental space where we explore the origins of trauma, depression, and anxiety, focusing on self-compassion and personal growth.
Through a blend of somatic awareness, cognitive-behavioral reflection, and humanistic insight, I guide clients in understanding their behaviors, emotions, and physical sensations. Together, we uncover blind spots, establish healthy boundaries, and cultivate self-awareness. I work with young adults and middle-aged individuals, helping them navigate life's challenges, recognize unhealthy patterns, and find new, fulfilling ways to meet their needs. My goal is to foster a journey toward emotional healing, self-compassion, and lasting transformation.

Let's Work Together
I work with individuals seeking greater safety, freedom, and authenticity in their lives, relationships, and well-being. When clients come to me, it shows they’re ready to explore personal growth, even if they’ve felt anxious, stuck, or unsure for some time. I create a welcoming space that focuses entirely on the client, setting aside distractions to ensure a supportive and engaged environment.

I approach therapy from a humanistic and trauma-informed perspective, encouraging curiosity and mindfulness as clients begin to witness their behaviors, feelings, and physical sensations in their bodies. By understanding how trauma can affect the body on a deeper level, I help clients explore the connection between their mental and physical experiences. Using somatic experiences, cognitive behavioral techniques, and insights into the nervous system, I guide clients toward self-compassion, emotional balance, and growth.

Together, we work on developing self-awareness, understanding the origins of anxiety, depression, and trauma, and building healthier relationships—both with themselves and others. I believe in staying patient and non-judgmental, reminding clients that healing is a journey that takes time and intention. The goal is to reconnect with the body, create meaningful boundaries, and embrace self-love, all while moving away from perfectionism and discovering a more balanced, fulfilling life.

I specialize in working with a wide range of mental health concerns, including women's issues, adjustment disorders, grief and loss, complex trauma, post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, mindfulness, co-dependency, attachment disorders, behavior prevention and intervention, communication, and marital/relationship recovery. I also focus on parenting, particularly in strengthening the parent-child bond, and use play therapy to support children’s emotional development.

As a Board Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Michigan, I bring over 25 years of experience in mental health and education, working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have extensive training in trauma, including certification as a Trauma Consultant (CTC) and additional trauma-focused training such as the Treating Trauma Master Series through NICAM.

I am also a Certified Gottman Leader for the Seven Principles for Making a Marriage Work and am advancing my expertise in Gottman Couples Therapy. My academic background includes a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Oakland University and undergraduate studies in Counseling Psychology and Early Childhood Development from Rochester College.

Throughout my career, I have provided therapy in individual, couples, group, and family settings, and have facilitated groups addressing grief, self-harm, co-dependency, addiction, depression, anxiety, behavioral concerns, and parenting. I am committed to continuous learning, particularly in the areas of trauma, family dynamics, marital discord, and self-harm, so that I can provide the best possible care to my clients.

In addition, I offer supervision for Limited Licensed Professional Counselors (LLPC) in Michigan, providing guidance and support to master-level graduate students during their internship placements. I also offer mentorship and consulting sessions for ongoing support or for growing practitioners.
